Update
Well, the regular updates didn't happen.
HOWEVER...
The book is done, my dudes!
Today, November 2, 2024, the SFD (****y First Draft) of Queen of Cinders is complete!
I started writing Queen of Cinders in March of 2023, a year and a half ago, because of some encouragement from friends. (Looking at you, Spoofle, Kosmo, MB, and Yu!)
The inception of this story goes back to the fall of 2015, when I decided to do my take on an Egypt-like fantasy world. There were hiccoughs along the way, but I am very pleased with what I have right now. It's not perfect, but with the first draft the goal is to fill the sandbox with the right kinds of sand. Edits and revisions will get me the rest of the way there.
Next Steps
I will be looking for beta-readers for feedback. This time around I am especially interested in sensitivity readers for a few things, such as:
- Trans and LGBTIQA+ representation
- Representation of an Egypt-adjacent culture
- Representation of depression, trauma, and mental illness
Before that, however, I'm going to sneak in a self-edit pass to fix the continuity errors that I've accumulated in a to do list.
Finally, while people are reading and giving their feedback, I will be outlining and pre-writing my next book... although which book that is my next secret.
