I wanted to keep regular monthly updates on this project. Instead, I have been hyper focusing on the project itself, which I have trouble seeing as a bad thing.

The working title is still Wake the Gods, but I am leaning toward using that as the title for the (hopeful) trilogy. Instead, the book itself will probably be called either Queen of Cinders or Cinder Queen.

Part 1 and 2 are done, and I am a few chapters deep into Part 3. Our protagonists are racing to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat! Things are falling into place, decisions are being made, and questions are being answered - but not too many. As a tricky Mistborn from another series is fond of saying, "There's always another secret!"

The story follows Shirafa, a traumatized princess from the desert city of Nabenas, as she desperately looks for a way to save her beloved city from being destroyed in the crossfire between two warring empires. Her fate brings a magician, a treasure hunter, an assassin, and a warrior with no home into her council. Together they must learn to trust one another and conquer their demons, or watch everything they cherish fade away.

It is a high fantasy epic set in the desert land of Mahadria, with ancient Egyptian flavoring, mystical creatures, elemental magic, and a series of secrets and revelations that will upend the lives of Shirafa and her friends.
